cleaning out the draft box

Deep heavens connect you and I
Oh sleepless one

since childhood I have looked to the stars and considered them home
and you have looked down upon stars and considered them ground

how is it that you meet me here — in the depths
they say deep calls to deep
but I am shallow
and you must grow weary

you —

light —

you —

air–
of carrying my dark burdens
I —

shadow —

I —

weigh,

and am dense.
not like you, who brings light.
I am penetrating and bring lost-ness.

How is it that you meet me here — on this hill
You —

summer breeze —

you —

fresh wind
how can you offer me your picnic
when I live
as winged ant — as wasp — an intruder.

Still I come to you,
and offer this
my empty heart.
my hand outstretched
my spirit thirsty.

I wrestle with you and believe
I wrestle with you and disband from myself
every plan lowered
as am I.

Your very own dense shadow
surrounded by your light
following your light.
